Rapid Deployment CCTV Tower

Sunstone is a British technology company focused on creating robust, innovative, renewable energy solutions helping to solve real world problems in a wide range of markets and sectors.

The business first started by meeting a challenge: how could local governments save tax payers money while continuing to protect them. Founder Paul Schelhaas saw that it was not only possible to save money, but also reduce downtime by implementing wireless technology that was largely self-sufficient.

Together, with co-founder Simon Legrand, Paul identified more opportunities to disrupt expensive and ineffective processes across a number of industries by applying smarter thinking with groundbreaking technology.

This led to the development of solutions to seemingly tough challenges. Solutions that could work in places with no access to power. Solutions that could withstand incredibly high heat and devastatingly low temperatures. That could be ruggedized and made ready-for-action in places that are not safe for lengthy installations.

Solutions that would not only create significant savings for customers, and improve their output, but also help reduce their CO2 emissions. Solutions that advanced the power of renewable energy.

Innovation sets us apart from the competition and we strive to rise to every challenge we face as a team.

We have developed patent-pending and solar-powered technologies that provide surveillance, wireless networks and satellite communications to some of the most remote locations in the world, while helping global organisations to reduce their CO2 emissions.

The Solar CCTV System (SICS) is a robust, rapid deployment surveillance system powered entirely by solar. It can deliver HD CCTV and telecommunications in remote and hostile locations and can be deployed and online in 4 minutes.

The patented SICS has been specifically designed to operate in extreme environments, and functions in temperatures ranging from -50°C to +80°C. The SICS can help organisations reduce their CO2 emissions by 250kg per year.

Fabricated from 316L stainless steel, it incorporates an advanced control and battery system and provides real time monitoring via HD video streams to almost any location in the world via wireless, cellular, and satellite networks.

At the heart of everything we do is our customer and the challenges they face.

We have a track record of successfully delivering turnkey solutions and breaking into new markets using our innovative technologies.

We secured a project to design and build a bespoke Solar Powered IP Camera System (SICS) for a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest oil companies. The project in Kazakhstan has enormous global exposure and our SICS has been successfully deployed in region.

In a truly collaborative project, our patent-pending system was specifically designed to operate in extremely hostile environments and temperatures (-50C to +80C) and in a highly corrosive, hydrogen sulphide (H2S) rich atmosphere to deliver reliable HD surveillance across their wireless network.

An initial 20 units were ordered for our client and this was quickly increased to 58 units. The systems provide the site security teams with an autonomous rapidly deployable surveillance camera (including IP CCTV and PTZ) in areas that would otherwise be too costly to install. We are now discussing additional projects and system variations for further deployments in the region as our client implement their strategic 40-year plan.

This deployment won Project of the Year 2017 at the IFSEC Security & Fire Excellence Awards.
